Corporate Social Responsibility
PLX Technology strives to create a better world by instituting important programs to help improve the ecological and social environments that we all share and enjoy. Learn more about our work below on this page, or review our Quality/Reliability site, our Environmental site for Green and RoHS materials, our DRC Conflict Minerals policy (Form-SD Conflict Mineral Disclosure), as well as our EICC code of conduct. You can also review some of our growing environmental initiatives by downloading this document.
The Company and its employees are active participants in special programs that cater to charity and social responsibility. We take pride in our ability to provide physical, emotional and financial support to these causes and encourage our customers and partners to join us to help these programs exceed beyond all expectations.
PLX core values are Leadership, Excellence, Integrity and Winning. These values are the basis for our belief in giving back to people that are less fortunate than ourselves. The company focuses on a few key localized charities as well as charities that are being directly supported by our employees.
The following charities are supported in the San Francisco Bay Area:
BUILD's mission is to provide real-world entrepreneurial experience that empowers youth from under-resourced communities to excel in education, lead in their communities, and succeed professionally. At BUILD, we do it by helping our students to start their own small businesses. As they reap the rewards - from keeping the profits to gaining self-confidence - they know there is a connection between hard work and creating a stronger community. They are excited to go to college. Simply put, they learn how to succeed. BUILD's 4-year program is the largest youth business incubator in the nation. Students come to us with inventive ideas for businesses. We nurture and shape those ideas, transforming a young person's lifelong dream into an everyday reality. The BUILD Program is not vocational education. Rather, it's an in-school elective in 9th through 12th grade, taught by BUILD mentors and on-site teachers at partner public high schools.
Family Giving Tree
The Family Giving Tree program works by selecting families, students and homeless persons who have registered with recipient social service agencies and schools. These individuals are interviewed to ascertain their current needs. Their requests are printed on cards and distributed to host companies throughout the San Jose Bay Area. Many of the hosts place their Giving Trees in break areas or cafeterias so their employees can participate in the program. Other hosts place their Giving Trees in more public locations such as building lobbies where customers, as well as employees, may donate gifts. Employees and/or customers pick one, or more, wish cards from their tree, purchase the gift, then return it with the wish card attached to the Giving Tree. Volunteers collect, sort and distribute the gifts to the recipient agencies. This program is tied to the Holiday Season.
Back to School Drive, Backpack Challenge
This program operates much like the Family Giving Tree and is run by the same charity. Wish cards are sent to host companies, groups, organizations or schools to be displayed on colorful posters. Individuals have two ways to participate: take a card and shop for a new backpack and fill it with the recommended school supplies, or provide funds either by mail or online and Family Giving Tree will purchase the items. Family Giving Tree collects and sorts the backpacks, and then distributes them to low-income students via teachers and school service agencies. This program precedes the beginning of the school year.
We are also participants in the following events:
Silicon Valley Annual Turkey Trot
Start Thanksgiving Day off on the right foot at the Silicon Valley Turkey Trot™. You'll be giving "thanks" by helping the Santa Clara Family Health Foundation, Second Harvest Food Bank and the Housing Trust of Santa Clara County. These charities provide families with their most basic needs for "health, hope and a home." The Silicon Valley Turkey Trot is founded and produced by the Silicon Valley Leadership Group.
There are several events to choose from in the 5K and 10K runs and walks, along with a kid's fun run. Elite runners, joggers and walkers will enjoy the downtown San Jose course, which is flat, fast and flows through neighborhoods and business areas.
